Student Spotlight: Vince Lampone

Yoga Heights is made up of students who are fascinating people.  We are excited to introduce you to them one by one via the blog!

Yoga Heights: Tell us about your first experience at Yoga Heights.

Vince: I came with my husband in January 2018 after a long hiatus from yoga. I was anxious and self-conscious, so camped out in the back of the class. It was difficult to keep up with all the poses and movements. But those 60 minutes lit enough of a spark to bring me back to the studio a second time. And then a third. Then, I signed up for yoga teacher training with YH!

YH: What classes do you attend at YH and why?

Vince: I love keeping me eyes closed in Alex Hall’s classes. They leave me feeling whole and restored. Michele Mae is also an all-star, I’ll make a special effort to rearrange my schedule to do yoga with her.

YH: What do you do when you're not on the mat?

Vince: I’m passionate about making sure that all kids get a world-class education, regardless of their zip code. So right now, I work as a consultant for education organizations, focusing on data, strategy and communications. On the personal side, I do mindfulness meditation every day, enjoy mentoring children, and am currently learning how to swim and speak Spanish. I'm also on a local bocce team and enjoy doing karaoke with friends (though can't say I'm particularly talented with either!).

YH: Where did you grow up?

Vince: The Philly area – about 20 minutes from downtown. So many DC people haven’t visited Philly yet. They should! The art, food and history are amazing, and the cost of living is much lower. Check out this New York Times article for a fun weekend itinerary.

YH: What neighborhood do you live in now? People love to know about their neighbors!

Vince: I live in Mt. Pleasant, close to the Georgia Avenue studio. It's a village in the heart of the city -- very lucky to call it home.
