Yoga Heights is made up of many fascinating people.  We are excited to introduce you to them one by one via the blog!Yoga Heights: Why do you practice yoga?Trish:  Back in 2002, during a particularly difficult time in my life, I decided to try a class (they weren’t that easy to find) and it was as if someone opened a door to sanity and so much more. It brought me peace and, generally, kept the stress at bay, and the flow style I eventually found really brought a whole new level of fitness to my life. My body and mind responded in ways no other exercise regimen has ever come close to doing. YH: Tell us about your first experience at Yoga Heights.T: I had searched high and low for a studio with hot flow. I tried a few studios in the area, but after my first class at YHDC (with Paige M-N), I knew I’d found my yoga home! Her vibrant spirit and athletic style really spoke to me! The space is so relaxed. No judgmental “mean girls” you find in some studios. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. And I particularly loved how Jess — on Yelp — really did respond to people if they had difficulty paying or any other problems. It was clear she cares.  YH: What classes do you go to at YH and why?T: Steve/Sat Intermediate; Angela/Sun Hot or Power; Mon/Amy Fusion; occasionally Caroline/Sun night Rocket & Thurs 6:30 am class.YH: What do you do when you're not on the mat?T: When not at work or yoga, there's a pretty good chance you'll find me with my furkids, Ella & Satchmo, in Rock Creek Park. My wonderful husband, John, sometimes joins us. A crazy animal and dog lover, I try to give some of my time to the DC animal shelter, Humane Rescue Alliance. In the fall Sunday afternoons are STEELER time! Football with my Yinzer husband & neighbors.  We're blessed to have the most amazing neighbors, so we often spend some kind of time with them on the weekend -- porch/patio cocktails, etc.YH: Where did you grow up?T: Yorktown & Williamsburg, VAYH: What neighborhood do you live in now? People love to know about their neighbors!T: North Columbia Heights/South Petworth (depending on who you ask!)
