Yoga Heights is made up of students who are fascinating people. We are excited to introduce you to them one by one via the blog!Meet Lindsay!Yoga Heights: Why do you practice yoga?Lindsay: Yoga meets different needs in my life. I'm not a super athletic person but I swim and ride my bike regularly. Practicing feels good to get stretches into the muscles that tend to get overworked. I also love the challenges of new poses and feeling proud when I get them! Last (but not least), I'll admit that I'm a little more of a stressed person in general- being in a yoga class forces me to at least try to turn my brain off and see how I'm really feeling.YH: Tell us about your first experience at Yoga Heights.L: I joined within the first month of the Petworth opening and was so excited to have a studio in my neighborhood! I used the new member unlimited special and tried out almost all of the instructors in a month.YH: What classes do you go to at Yoga Heights and why?L: I gravitate towards the more fast paced classes with fun music- Amy's Fusion Flow is one of my favorites but I love Rocket Yoga with Paige. For a challenge, I try to get to Steve's Intermediate class. I also love the social classes like the community class in the parking lot, or bootcamp where there is lots of mutual support.YH: What do you do when you're not on the mat?L: I spend my day with crazy and amazing middle schoolers! I'm the school social worker at Capital City Public Charter School and even though some days are really tough, I admire my colleagues and value how the school supports our health and professional growth. I'm also mom to a crazy pre-toddler!YH: Where did you grow up?L: Born and raised in Rose Valley, PA- a small town outside of Philly. I moved to Wisconsin around high school and love/miss the Midwestern vibe.YH: What neighborhood do you live in now? People love to know about their neighbors!L: I'm so psyched that I am in TAKOMA! Just a few blocks from the new studio. I love Takoma overall, but especially the great community of families and local businesses.YH: Anything else you want to include?L: I feel great every time I practice but know that there are always ways to grow. Always reminding myself to watch my own mat and take care of myself. So grateful to have a community that supports every schedule, body, and brain.
