We Are One

An open letter of gratitude from YH teacher Michelle Mae

With love and gratitude, I write this, as a huge thank you to every single person who makes up this amazing community and has kept it alive and well. The backdrop of intensity has given all humans the opportunity to vividly re-examine the connection we all share.  Compassion has risen to the surface without a second thought.  Yoga Heights has been held together and continues to move along due to your support and willingness to keep the train rolling amidst the chaos and uncertainty.

Transitioning from in-person, to virtual teaching has been challenging on many levels.  It adds many more skill sets to the equation.  The entire process from owner, to studio assistant, to teacher, to you has been completely upturned.  We've all had to open our hearts and brains to abruptly adapt to a new paradigm.  It cracks you open and forces you to expand outside of your normal functioning and capacity.  We can all be taken down and operate from a victim mentality when we are hit with a catastrophe, or we can rise to new heights by taking the reins and forging on with love, vulnerability and the realization that we are all in this together.  For the time being, the stable ground below us has crumbled.  Instead of losing our footing, new seeds were thrown down, watered, fertilized and we thrive.  Every person has stepped up and been a positive force in the care of this garden.

As full time teachers, the yoga classes we teach are our lifeline.  Due to the support of you and of the yoga heights founders and team, we've been able to float along without fear.  Just the reality of being lifted up in the way we have been by you, gives an enthusiastic outlook to all the rest, and to humanity at large.  We can all serve each other in ways we're able.  The kind of care we've seen from this community is exemplary, and that goodness reverberates outward in all directions to inspire all.  It creates an energy field that expands.

We've all been going through ups and downs, each day a new reality presents itself, a news story that shakes us up, abhorrent human rights and constitutional violations, the sadness of those passing, and the pain and shock left behind.  But we persist, in the spirit of oneness - perhaps the only thing that will uphold the truth of what we are taught in yogic philosophy - we are one.    While you might think your help is small scale, every bit of encouragement, taking classes, inspirational instagram posts, live streaming comments to let us know you are there and watching, emails, texts, buying passes, donations and any other little bit of joy you put forth, is a form of compassion, of assistance, of revolution, and of total open-hearted response without condition.

With all of my heart,
Michelle Mae
