What classes does Yoga Heights Offer?

All Levels Flow

All Levels Flow moves you through a series of poses that connect breath to movement. Students can expect an emphasis on breathing as they progress through a flowing sequence of poses to help you get out of your head and into your body. Your practice will grow and your sense of peace and balance will be restored as you flow through the yoga postures empowered by your breath. Each teacher at Yoga Heights adds their own flair to each All Levels Yoga class but you can expect to have the chance to level up or ground down depending on how you're feeling.

Intermediate Yoga

Intermediate Yoga is a class for yogis who are already familiar with basic poses and vinyasas, including sun salutations, warrior poses, folds, twists, and backbends. With less time required for demonstration and cueing, the class will flow smoothly and intentionally with creative transitions to poses that allow your body to stretch, strengthen, and find comfort in stillness. We will also explore pranayama (breath) exercises, mantra, and meditation to enhance your yoga practice beyond the physical.

Power Flow

Power Flow features a series of poses that connect breath to movement and is likely to make you break a sweat. In these classes expect an upbeat flow through yoga poses that will help you burn off stress and reconnect to yourself. This class is designed for All Levels, but first-time yoga students may want to attend a Back to Basics class to become acquainted with the poses first. Each teacher at Yoga Heights adds their own flair to each Power yoga class but you can expect the chance to level up or ground down depending on how you’re feeling.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a slow, deep, and calming practice. All poses focus on stretching the connective tissue (fascia, tendons, and ligaments). All poses have longer holds to affect the connective tissue of the hips, thighs, back, neck, and shoulders. This class will calm and balance your body and mind, increase mobility and flexibility, lower stress levels, and promote relaxation. It may help those coping with anxiety, migraines, and muscle fatigue as well. Restorative Yin is a great complement to yang classes like Power Flow and Hot Flow and will vastly improve your ability and comfort to sit for meditation.

Yoga Nidra

Busy, stressed out and overworked are often seen as a status symbol. Sometimes it feels like if you're not totally exhausted, you must not be working hard enough. But just imagine how amazing it could feel to give yourself a break. Imagine how much more productive, innovative, and most importantly-- how HAPPY you would be if you had a chance to REST! Yoga Nidra is a centuries-old meditation practice, often referred to as yogic sleep. Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that systematically guides and relaxes you at every level of your being, including physical, energetic, mental, emotional, and spiritual layers (called the koshas). Through the use of breath awareness, body scanning, healing music, and nature imagery, Divine Sleep invites you to become aware of each layer of being without needing to change or fix anything. You will experience this practice by lying down and listening. No yoga or meditation experience is needed. No special apparel is needed or required, but it's suggested that you wear something comfortable.

Kundalini

This introductory Kundalini Yoga class offers students the chance to experience the fundamental aspects of Kundalini Yoga which include a warming up of the body through basic stretches and light movement, followed by a kriya. A kriya is a set series of exercises done in a specific sequence, typically in a repetitive fashion, with a focus on breathing while building strength. Each class will end with a short meditation designed to best realize the benefits of the kriya.

Kundalini Yoga does not heavily emphasize traditional postures, and students of all levels, including those who have never taken any type of yoga, are encouraged to attend. Each exercise performed in Kundalini Yoga will offer several modifications and therefore is appropriate for people of all levels and abilities.

Slow Flow

Slow Flow yoga connects movement and breath at a slower pace emphasizing the meditative space. Slow Flow is structured similarly to a Vinyasa Flow class at a slower pace. You will find sun salutations and other familiar postures at a dropped tempo. This class allows for a pause within movement and variations that complement the body’s needs. Slow Flow will build an internal fire when holding poses longer. Though this class will be moving at a slower pace this is not a gentle yoga class.

Back to Basics Yoga

This is a beginner-level class designed to allow time for the additional guidance you need to understand yoga poses and breathing. Beginner Yoga classes are also an excellent opportunity for more seasoned yogis to take a step back, check in with their architecture in basic poses (like chaturanga and down dog) and get the tune-up they need to practice both breath and movement more effectively.

Pre & Postnatal Yoga

This yoga class gets pregnant and postpartum people moving with gentle vinyasa yoga. Attending this class regularly throughout your pregnancy will help your mind and body prepare for childbirth. During postnatal recovery and beyond this class will provide care specifically made for your new body and brain. No previous yoga experience is needed.
